Internly vs. Simplify

Simplify and Internly both exist because internship applications are repetitive, form-heavy busywork. They come at it from different ends: Simplify makes you faster at the forms; Internly tries to take the form off your plate, where it can. (We build Internly — judge our fairness for yourself.)

How each one works

Simplify is primarily a browser extension plus a job tracker. You find a role — often via their well-maintained lists of open tech internships — click through to the employer's site, and the extension autofills the application from your saved profile. You review, fix what it missed, and submit. Autofill and tracking are free; Simplify+ adds paid AI features.

Internly is an iPhone and web app that starts one step earlier: it builds a deck of internships filtered to your field, country, and pay floor, and you swipe through it.

What "applies for you" means, exactly. Internly can fill out and submit an application itself only where the employer uses an application form it supports — today that is Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby, which is roughly 3,700 of the 60,000 listings in the catalogue, most of them in the United States. The web app labels every listing "We apply for you" or "Apply on employer's site" before you swipe. On the first kind, your profile fills the form, and if the form wants something your profile doesn't have, Internly asks you before sending anything. On the second kind, a right swipe saves the role to your Applications list with the employer's link, and you finish there yourself.

Where Simplify wins

Breadth of forms. Simplify's extension works on far more application systems than Internly can submit to — including the long, account-based portals many large employers use, where Internly can only hand you the link. If most of the roles you want sit on those, Simplify will save you more typing.

Control. You see every field before it goes out. If you want to tailor each application by hand, that's the right shape of tool. And if you're a CS student applying to US tech internships from a laptop, their curated lists are among the best maintained anywhere.

Where Internly helps

On the forms it supports, there's nothing left for you to do. You swipe, and the application is filled out and submitted — or you're asked for the one answer that was missing.

From a phone. The whole flow is built for a few minutes at a time, not a desk session.

Beyond US tech. The catalogue covers business, design, healthcare, marketing, and more, in 60+ countries — though outside the US, nearly all of those listings are the "apply on employer's site" kind today.

The verdict

They overlap less than it looks. Simplify is a power tool for filling forms you've chosen; Internly is a way to find internships and have the supported ones submitted for you. Plenty of people could sensibly use both: Internly to discover roles and clear the ones it can submit, Simplify for the employer-site forms that remain.
